Andrea Davis Pinkney is the author of many acclaimed picture books and young adult novels, including Let It Shine: Story of Black Women Freed Fighters, a Coretta Scott King Award Honor book. Her most recent title is Sit In: How Four Friends Stood up By Sitting Down. Her novel Bird in a Box will appear in Spring 2011. In her free time, Ms. Pinkney is a children’s book editor in New York.

Joan Bauer grew up in River Forest, IL. After marriage, a career change, and an automobile accident, Joan decided to fulfill her love of comedy by writing Squashed, while recuperating from the accident.
